A Book on the Art of Looking Good Naked!

For those of us who just want to look good and build the superhero/Spartan/gladiator physique, this book is a Godsend. Most exercise books have too many exercises to choose from, which is very confusing to those of us who are beginners. This book sifts through the thousands of exercises that are out there and showcases only the ones that build muscle.

Some of the exercises build up muscle all over your body, while others build up specific muscles, what the author calls "pivot points." The author explains pivot points as muscles located in strategic spots on the body that, when developed, give you the classical V-taper. So not only does the book showcase muscle building exercises, but it also explains why you would develop certain muscle groups and how to target them for aesthetics.

Some of the other things I learned from this book:

-How to create high muscular tension throughout the entire range of motion
-How to group exercises together to hit a single body part and make it grow (this gave me awesome pumps in the gym BTW)
-What reps each muscle group responds to (this part was educational, since I've never seen this information anywhere else)

This is an awesome book for both the beginner and the advanced lifter who lifts solely for looks. There is a lot of training information in it, so the book may be a little overwhelming for the beginner. But I found that I could easily apply the exercises and training techniques in the gym.

His best book yet!

I have every one of this guy's books, and I can say that this is definitely his best one. What marks this book different from his previous books is that this volume has numerous exercise photos, so you're shown how to do these exercises. If you're interested not just in building muscle, but building a physique similar to that of a gymnast's (wide shoulders, lean muscular arms, ripped abs) then this book is a must have. The author showcases a wide variety of exercises that build muscle from a variety of angles. I learned quite a few new exercises which I had never seen before. I tried some of these exercises in the gym, and they definitely gave me an incredible pump.

The author also introduces some interesting training concepts in this book. He shows you how to pair up and group exercises together so that you can extend the tension on a muscle so that it grows. He also talks about a concept called pivot point training, and shows you a diagram of muscles to target that will give you the muscular V-taper look. The author also lays out the best rep ranges for each muscle group, as each muscle is made up of different fiber types.

A great book for the exercise enthusiast who wants that extra edge.

A must have for the body-builder at any level.

I was excited to hear about this book from the author's website so I ordered it and was not disappointed when it arrived. The contents are laid out in a straight-forward manner with easy-to-read charts and programs. Beginning with a brief, but all-important note on determining your goals - do you want to build bulk, symmetry, definition? - followed by chapters on the importance of tension in building muscle fibers, and a very informative chapter on the types of muscle-fibers found in each body-part, and the most effective weight/rep ratio for each. There are also some extremely important chapters on how to utilize your exercise regime in order to get maximum, extended tension from each exercise. These informative chapters suggest the most effective weight/speed/rep/set/ ratio that may be required for optimum muscle building.

In the main body of the book each body-part is discussed in detail - each body-part being given its own chapter. Each recommended exercise is accompanied by illustrations and a detailed written description of the correct form to use. Additionally, each chapter provides a detailed workout chart that recommends a specialization regime for each body-part.

An altogether highly informative work that is perfect for home weight-trainers like myself, and gym trainers alike. The high-tension information, the targeted workout regimes, as well as the "6 factors program" discussed at the end of the book, have all helped to change the way I work out for the better, and I feel as though I am able to get more out of each rep/set/exercise than I was before.

An excellent work and a must-have for anyone serious about building muscle.
